Gardening HELP!

I planted one lots of seeds in toilet rolls in the mini-greenhouse - and they're all covered in a white mold and have fungi growing in with them!!

Do I ditch the lot and start again or will they be ok to plant out?? What did I do wrong? Not enough drainage holes in the bottom of the container maybe?

Hi Kez,
Yep I'd say drainage is an issue, plus they are possibly getting too much water as well? Were they in your greenhouse? The recent hot weather here has meant they would have probably been sitting in 45'C and 99% humidity (if the door shut) until it cooled down a bit yesterday? I'd say chuck them in the compost and start again unfortunately. On the recent hot days I opened the door of my greenhouse to stop it from overheating, and I only mist the tops of the seedlings until they come up well. Someone else might have a better idea though...

Cheers, Julie

you know I think it is partly the seed raising mix... we got the same little white mushroomy things come up in ours too. I just nipped them out and all as fine. I wouldn't chuck em... if your seeds have sprouted try less water and more fresh air and see if the fungus goes away before you plant them out... but then I am a beginner at gardening so I could be dead wrong about it all LOL

I thought that white fungi was just evidence that things were breaking down in the soil. Or is that only if it's under the soil?
